"W" and its applications

A different way to make mountains is shown.

Two Mountains

1. Do Opening A and release thumbs. Transfer the little-finger loop to middle fingers.

2. Thumbs move over the index-finger loop and pick up near middle-finger strings.

3. Little fingers move over intervening strings and pick up near index-finger strings. Release thumbs.

4. Thumbs move over intervening strings and pick up far middle-finger strings. Release little fingers.

 Two Mountains

This is also known as "W" (Refs. j2 and e1) while you should see the figure from the distal side.

The application to other numbers

You can increase the number of mountains using the increment method introduced in another page.
As an example, I choose Four Mountains.

1. Do Steps 1-5 of Four Mountains.

2. Middle fingers move over index-finger loops, then move into thumb loops from above and

pick up near thumb strings. Release thumbs.
(= transfer thumb loops to middle fingers with a 180-degree twist away from you)

3. Give a 180-degree twist toward you to index-finger loops. (Use the opposite hand.)

(The following steps are the same as Steps 2-4 of Two Mountains shown above.)

4. Thumbs move over index-finger loops and pick up near middle-finger strings.

5. Little fingers move over intervening strings and pick up near index-finger strings. Release thumbs.

6. Thumbs move over intervening strings and pick up far middle-finger strings. Release little fingers.
