Four Mountains and Increment Method
Four Mountains
1. Do Opening A and release little fingers.
2. Thumbs move under near index-finger strings and pick up the far index-finger string.
3. Little fingers move over near index-finger strings and pick up far thumb strings.
4. Release thumbs.
5. Thumbs move over index-finger loops and pick up near little-finger strings. Release little fingers.
(The following steps are the same as Steps 3-4 of Two Mountains.)
6. Thumbs hold down near index-finger strings.
7. Index fingers hook up near thumb strings from the near side. Index-finger
loops drop naturally.
Four Mountains
(You can modify the tangle at the center of the bottom strings by twisting
the left index-finger loop 720-degrees (two turns) toward you before Step 2.)
The Increment Method
By doing the following steps just before the last two steps (Steps 3-4 of Two Mountains,
Steps 4-5 of Three Mountains and Steps 6-7 of Four Mountains), you can add two mountains.
(i) Index fingers move toward you and twist index-finger loops 360-degrees.
(ii) Thumbs move under near index-finger strings and pick up the far index-finger string.
(iii) Little fingers move over near index-finger strings and pick up far thumb strings.
(iv) Release thumbs.
(v) Thumbs move over index-finger loops and pick up near little-finger strings. Release little fingers.
In principle, you can make many mountains by repeating this procedure while mountains around the center tend to collapse.
By doing this procedure on the left (right) hand only, one mountain is added.
(In the procedure of Four Mountains described above,
Step (i) was cancelled with Step 2 of Two Mountains.)
For an example, let's make Six Mountains.
Do Steps 1-5 of Four Mountains.
Do (i)-(v) described above.
Do Steps 6-7 of Four Mountains.
To make Five Mountains:
Do Steps 1-5 of Four Mountains.
Do (i)-(v) for the left (right) hand only.
Do Steps 6-7 of Four Mountains.
To make Eight Mountains:
Do Steps 1-5 of Four Mountains.
Do (i)-(v).
Repeat (i)-(v).
Do Steps 6-7 of Four Mountains.
Another way to make Five Mountains:
Do Steps 1-3 of Three Mountains.
Do (i)-(v).
Do Steps 4-5 of Three Mountains.
