Holding up the Sky
Step 1: Opening.
- Do Opening A.
- Release little fingers.
- Little fingers move into the index-finger loop from below and remove it.
Step 2: To add a loop to the lower-left.
- The right hand holds the left far thumb string and twists it clockwise 180-degrees to make a loop.
- Hang the loop on the left little finger. Through it, pick out the original loop.
- Release the left little finger. Put back the original loop onto the left little finger.
Step 3: To add a loop to the upper-right.
- The left hand holds the right near little-finger string and twists it clockwise 180-degrees to make a loop.
- Hang the loop on the right thumb. Through it, pick out the original loop.
- Release the right thumb. Put back the original loop onto the right thumb.
Step 4: To add a loop to the lower-right.
- The left hand holds the right far thumb string and twists it counterclockwise 180-degrees to make a loop.
- Hang the loop on the right little finger. Through it, pick out the original loop.
- Release the right little finger. Put back the original loop onto the right little finger.
Step 5: To add a loop to the upper-left.
- The right hand holds the left near little-finger string and twists it counterclockwise 180-degrees to make a loop.
- Hang the loop on the left thumb. Through it, pick out the original loop.
- Release the left thumb. Put back the original loop onto the left thumb.
Step 6. Repeat Steps 2-5 as times as you want.
Step 7. Make up the pattern with index, middle and ring fingers.
Step 8: Ending.
- Index fingers move into thumb loops from above and remove them.
- Thumbs move under index-finger loops and pick up near little finger strings.
- Thumbs move into index-finger loops from below and remove them.
- Do the Caroline Extension.

Variations
By rearranging the order of the steps, you can make different patterns.
Example: Step 1 → Step 3 → Step 5 → Step 2 → Step 4 → Step 7 → Step 8
To add loops to other string figures
You can add loops to other string figures with the Caroline extension ending, such as Coral, The Sun, Sardines.
Example:
- Make Coral.
- Release thumbs softly. Thumbs move into index-finger loops from above and remove them.
- Do Steps 2 and 4.
- Do Steps 7 and 8.
