A long loop is recommended.

1. Do Murray Opening.

2. Thumbs pick up the upper near index-finger string and little fingers pick up upper far index-finger strings. Index fingers release their upper loops.



Steps 1-2 can be replaced by
(i) Do Opening A.
(ii) Release thumbs.
(iii) Thumbs move into the index-finger loop from above, then move under near little-finger strings and pick up the far little-finger string.
(iv) Release little fingers. Little fingers move over index-finger loops and pick up far thumb strings.

3. The right middle finger picks up the left palm string.

4. The left middle finger picks up the right palm string through the right middle-finger loop.

5. Ring fingers move into little-finger loops from above and remove them.



6. Little fingers move into ring-finger loops from above, then move under intervening strings and pick up the near thumb string.

7. Release thumbs.

8. Thumbs move into index-finger loops from above, then move under intervening strings and pick up far little-finger strings.



9. Little fingers move over intervening strings and pick up both sides of the upper central triangle, which are bent from the near sides of index fingers.

 

10. Navajo little fingers.

11. Release index, middle and ring fingers.



12. Index fingers move into thumb loops from above and remove them.

13. Thumbs move under index-finger loops and pick up near little-finger strings.

14. Thumbs move into index-finger loops from below and remove them.

15. Do the Caroline Extension.
