A long loop is required.
1. Do Opening A.
2. Thumbs move over index-finger loops and pick up near little-finger strings.
3. Index fingers move over palm strings and pick up far thumb strings.
(Place them above the original index-finger loops.)
4. Release thumbs.
5. Thumbs move into lower index-finger loops from above (photo), then move under far index-finger strings and pick up near little-finger strings.
6. Release little fingers.
7. Little fingers hook down upper far index-finger strings (left photo), then move under lower index-finger loops
and pick up far thumb strings (right photo). (Assistance of middle and ring fingers may be helpful.)
8. Release thumbs.
9. Thumbs move into lower index-finger loops from above and pick up both lower and upper far index-fingers.
10. Release upper index-finger loops.
11. Navajo thumbs.
12. Thumbs move over index-finger loops and pick up near little-finger strings.
13. Do the Caroline Extension.

You can increase the number of stars as shown below.
14. Index fingers pick up upper near thumb strings and release thumbs.
15. Thumbs move over near index-finger strings and remove upper two index-finger loops from above.
16. Do Steps 3-13.
