The Swan

1. Do Position 1.

2. From the far side, the right thumb picks up the left far little-finger string.
(Do not strain the strings yet.)

3. The left thumb moves over the right far thumb string and picks up the right far little-finger string from the near side.
(Do not strain the strings yet.)

4. Release little fingers. Little fingers pick up both far thumb strings.

5. Insert the right little finger into the far central triangle from above so as to slip off one of right little-finger loops. Unbend the right little finger.

6. The right little finger hooks down the right far thumb string. The right little-finger loop drops naturally.

7. Insert the left little finger into the far triangle from above so as to slip off one of left little-finger loops. Unbend the left little finger.

8. The left little finger hooks down the left far thumb string. The left little-finger loop drops naturally.

9. Index fingers move into thumb loops from above and hook up the nearest (transverse) string from the near side. Release thumbs.

10. Thumbs move into the far (little-finger side) central triangle from below and pick up both strings crossing at the center.

11. Thumbs pick up near index-finger strings and share the loops.

12. Navajo lower two thumb loops and release index fingers.

13. Index fingers move into the thin triangles from above and hook up the nearest central string from the near side.

14. Release thumbs.

15. The right thumb moves into the right index-finger loop from below and hook down the two strings.
Rotate the right thumb down, toward you and back to position with the strings.

16. The left thumb moves into right thumb loops from below and shares them.

17. Thumbs pick up near index-finger strings and share the loops.

18. Navajo lower two thumb loops and release index fingers.

19. The right index finger hooks up the two central transverse strings from the far side, then moves into the right thumb loop from above,
moves under intervening strings, and hooks up the farthest central string which is running from the far side of little fingers.

20. Release the left little finger.

21. The left little finger moves under intervening strings, then moves into the right thumb loop from below and removes the right index-finger loop.
